BILLAWAR, July 1:Speaker, State Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today stressed on the need for improvement of healthcare in rural hospitals by consolidation of infrastructure and medical staff.”These hospitals are established to provide healthcare to rural population at their doorsteps but without proper infrastructure and medical staff these institutions cannot serve the desired purpose” Speaker asserted.
Dr Nirmal Singh was chairing a meeting of Health Department at Sub District Hospital Billawar today.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director, Health and Family Welfare, Jammu, Chief Medical Officer, Kathua, incharge BMO, Billawar, ADC Billawar, Municipal Committee, Billawar chairman, Basotra and other concerned officers of various departments.
Dr.Nirmal Singh reviewed the functioning of Billawar hospital and expressed his concern over the shortage of specialist doctors. He also took stock of the staff position and health infrastructure. While reviewing the annual performance of the hospital, Dr. Singh asked the concerned authorities to put in their sincere and dedicated efforts to provide best medicare to the patients, as more than 300 record number of patients coming in the OPD on daily basis. Various issues were discussed in the meeting especially upgrading of the infrastructure to make available diagnostic and other vital facilities in Billawar hospital.
Speaker directed the medical staff to treat patients with utmost care and missionary zeal. Dr Singh also laid stress on maintaining cleanliness in the hospital premises and proposal disposal of bio-medical waste. He stressed on punctuality of medical staff for improving the patient care in the hospital.
Dr Nirmal Singh later inspected the construction work of additional block of 100 bedded Billawar hospital. He asked executing agencies to fix priorities of construction works of the hospital. Underlining the importance of Billawar hospital, Speaker said that this health institution caters to the needs of a large population coming from far off places, round the clock.
“This health institution needs to be developed/upgraded with latest infrastructural facilities” he stressed. He also went around various wards of the hospital and interacted with the patients and enquired about the facilities being provided to them.
