Speaker inspects development works

KATHUA, July 3:  Speaker Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh today inspected various development works in remote Uchapind panchayat of Billawar, Kathua where the locals from villages Kalda, Chadu, Uchapind, Phavru and Chaka also put forth various development issues of the area.
During the visit the Speaker inspected PHC at Khog and Uchapind, PMGSY road from Uchapind to Trapad and other projects. He said that development works amounting to Rs. 6.5 crore have been completed in Uchapind panchayat along with its adjoining areas.
The Speaker directed Billawar Administration to organise a public outreach camp in Uchapind area on July 16 to deliver various services enlisted under Public Service Guarantee Act. besides sensitizing about various Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Flagship Programmes and Beneficiary Oriented Schemes.
The Speaker emphasized on effective monitoring of the rural development schemes.
Highlighting the tourism potential of Uchapind and Khog areas, Nirmal Singh said that the area has huge tourism potential and with adequate infra like roads and other tourist amenities, new vistas for economic empowerment of the region will be opened.
To develop pilgrimage tourist circuit in Billawar, the Speaker said that Phinter to Sukrala road has been upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs. 42 crores whereas widening of Billawar to Sukrala road has been undertaken under CRF.
In the past three and a half years 22 new roads under PMGSY in Billawar were laid at a cost of Rs. 102 crores, Dr. Singh said.
