JAMMU, Dec 26: Speaker Legislative Assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar Kavinder Gupta today announced Rs 20 lakh for immediate measures to augment water supply in Bathindi till the works on new Rs.18 crore WSS Batala and Rs.10 crore WSS Bathindi are launched, giving respite to the residents facing water shortage.
As part of the project, 6 inches water pipes will be installed over a stretch of 850 meter and the augmented water supply will cater to multiple localities including Peer Bagh, Azad Colony, Khalsa Colony and adjoining areas.
Kavinder Gupta announced this while addressing a public meet in the area.
He said that steps are underway to augment basic necessities including water, power supply, proper roads and sanitation in line with the growing requirements of the area. He said that works have been executed on multiple fronts like construction and upgradation of main roads and link roads, installation of transformers, besides the Sunjwan-Chatta road constructed with Rs. 3.63 crore etc.
On the occasion, people also presented their demands to the Speaker. Giving a patient hearing to the projected demands, the Speaker assured the people that concerted efforts will be made to provide better amenities and mitigate their problems in a time bound manner.
Later, the Speaker convened a public meet at Channi Himmat.
Describing public participation essential for better development, the Speaker asked the people to coordinate with administration and personally monitor the development works being executed in their respective areas.
He also assured that the demands of the people will be taken up at the earliest.
