JAMMU, Feb 19: The Principal Secretary of Finance Department has called upon the State Pensioners to furnish enrolment forms for Group Mediclaim Policy soon to complete the process of their enrolment.
The J&K State Pensioners Association (SPA) has sought wider publicity authorizing the branches of J&K Bank from where the pensioners are getting pension to provide and obtain the enrolment forms to them and also publish salient features of the policy so that the pensioners have an opportunity to go through the merits and demerits thereof before filing their enrolment forms, Krishan Singh, president of SPA said in a statement here today.
He said pensioners are living scattered in far off places who may not be able to know about even filling up of enrolment forms so wider publicity is required so that they can come to know of the same.
The president of SPA has stated further that pre-2006 pensioners have woefully yet not received the D.A arrears pertaining to the period from January to June 2009 which stands paid to the employees and post 2006 pensioners since long. He made a strong plea to the concerned authorities to expedite the payment of D A arrears to the left out pensioners without any further delay.
He also demanded revision of pension of SOs and some other categories of employees of Accounts, Statistics, Sheep/ Animal Husbandry and other departments retired during the period from 1-1-1996 to 19-2-2003 in light of upgradation of their posts notionally from 1-1-1996 and monetarily from 19-02-2003.
He, while demanding enhancement of Medical Allowance in respect of State employees and pensioners from existing paltry rate of Rs.300 to at least Rs. 1000 in view of steeply rising medicare expenses day by day and moreover sitting and former Ministers and legislators are being paid the same @ Rs. 5000 per month which is reportedly enhanced further to Rs. 10000 as disease do not differentiate between the rich and poor.
