Jammu, Dec 28 : Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday appointed Dr SP Vaid as new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state.
The decision to appoint Vaid as DGP was taken in a cabinet meeting held under chairpersonship of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu today evening.
“The State cabinet has approved the appointment of Vaid as new DGP,” Cabinet spokesman Naeem Akther told Excelsior.
Vaid will succeed K Rajendra Kumar, who was appointed in May 2014 and completed his term in August this year. His three-year term is ending this month.
Vaid is a 1986-batch IPS officer of J&K cadre who is presently working as Special DGP (Law and Order).
