Soz summoned to Delhi

SRINAGAR, Apr 18: President of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Prof Saif-u-Din Soz was today summoned to New Delhi amid growing factionalism in the JKPCC.
The growing factionalism in JKPCC has irked the central leadership especially corruption charges levelled by two Congress Ministers, Sham Lal Sharma and Taj Mohi-ud-Din against each other that has resulted in an open war of words between the two ministers.
Prof Soz was asked by the central Congress leadership to file a report on the growing factionalism in Congress and he is going to discuss the issue with the central leadership.
In the meantime several Congress leaders fed up with the growing factionalism in the party are switching sides. Sources said that some of them are joining People’s Democratic Party and others ruling National Conference.
Sources said that one of the Vice presidents’ of Congress party in Kashmir valley, Abdul Majeed Padar, along with his several workers is joining PDP. He is believed to be joining the PDP on Friday.
Sources said that Padder would visit former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s residence along with his supporters on Friday morning to formally join the PDP.
In the meantime over 32 Panchayat members having affiliation with the ruling NC including Halqa presidents of Pampore constituency today held a meeting at Awantipora today. They have threatened to leave the NC and join some other party if their demands are not met by the top party leadership. The meeting was held at the residence of Sarpanch Farooq Ahmad Mir at village Hathiwara Awanitpora in district Pulwama.
