SRINAGAR, Nov 13: Former Union Minister Prof Saifuddin Soz, has said that some mainstream leaders often forget that the general run of the people in J&K mainstream political class know fully that the statehood had been wrongly, but temporarily withdrawn and it would definitely be restored.
The Prime Minister had made the position clear on August 8, 2019 and, thereafter, the Home Minister had made the position clean on October 23, 2019. This happens to be the Prime Minister’s and the Home Minister’s commitment before the Parliament of India.
So, these mainstream leaders of the J&K only make unnecessary statements on restoration of statehood. It was a folly committed by the Union Govt. to reduce Statehood into Union Territory and they have to rectify it, sooner than later.
These particular leaders must also understand that the real issue before the people of the J&K State happens to be the “restoration of internal autonomy” as enshrined by the Article 370 of the Constitution of India that was illegally and unconstitutionally abrogated by the Central Govt.
They must also appreciate the fact that an overwhelming majority of the people in J&K State have already accepted to struggle for restoration of the autonomy enshrined in Article 370, Soz added.
