Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who was taken to AIIMS last night after she felt uneasiness during voting on Food security Bill in the Lok Sabha, has been discharged from the hospital, party sources said today.
Ms Gandhi, who felt feverish in the Lok Sabha and had to be rushed to AIIMS, has been discharged after her check-up was completed, AICC General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi said.
“The Congress president has come back, she is all right and her medical check-up has been completed,” Mr Dwivedi said.
Ms Gandhi had left the Lok Sabha while the voting was underway on various amendments on Food Bill, after she complained of exhaustion and mild chest pain.
Party sources said she had uneasiness due to side effect of some medicines she took for cough and headache.
Mr Dwivedi said that based on information from doctors, some medicines did not suit her and she felt uneasiness due to their reactions.
She was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a precautionary measure but later shifted to the Cardio-Neuro Centre.
Hospital sources said she underwent some tests and was under observation at AIIMS where top doctors of the institute including its director R C Deka attended on her.
Balram Airon, Head of Cardio-Thoracic surgery department, is monitoring Ms Gandhi’s health condition. (UNI)
