NEW DELHI, Mar 8: Vedanta Group firm Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) today announced the appointment of Sonal Shrivastava as its Deputy Chief Finance Officer.
Former CFO of Lafarge India, Shrivastava, has joined Hindustan Zinc as Deputy Chief Finance Officer (CFO), the company said in a statement.
Hindustan Zinc has also appointed Pankaj Kumar as the new Chief Operating Officer (Smelters) subsequent to the movement of Vikas Sharma in an elevated role as CEO of Balco, it said.
“Hindustan Zinc…Has recently appointed a Deputy Chief Finance Officer and Chief Operating Officer to support the growing expansions of its operations,” the company statement said.
Hindustan Zinc CEO Sunil Duggal said that since the company’s mining and smelting operations are expanding, these positions will further strengthen the top-line management.
The rich experience of (Pankaj) Kumar will bring technical experience, knowledge and perspective and will further drive continuous improvement at smelters and Shrivastava will further strengthen the finance function through leveraging best practices and her global experience.
Both these senior level positions will be part of the Executive Committee of the company.
A chemical engineer from BIT Sindri and Masters in Management Studies from JBIMS Mumbai, Shrivastava brings with her rich professional experience covering finance and control, compliance, purchase, legal, audit, M&A, capital market fund raising, strategy & business development, direct and indirect tax, shared services and IT.
Kumar is a BTech from IIT Kharagpur and PGDBM from XLRI Jamshedpur. In his earlier stints, he has worked with Tata Steel, Mittal Steel, Sterlite Copper and Adani Ports.
Hindustan Zinc is on expansion mode with a target to achieve 1.2 million tonnes of metal production and 1,000 tonnes of silver in the near future. The company has also plans to enter into the solar project with production of 115 MW of solar power. (PTI)
