JAMMU, June 5: Son of the soil, Prof AK Gupta, Medical Superintendent-cum-Head, Department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER Chandigarh today took charge as president, Academy of Hospital Administration (AHA), Noida, for the term 2018-20.
A senior and founder member of the Academy of Hospital Administration, Prof Gupta, who belongs to Billawar tehsil of Kathua district in Jammu region, was elected unanimously during the meeting of the executive body held in the Academy premises today.
As president, Prof Gupta will head the Academy for two years.
Elaborating on the priorities for the term 2018-20, Prof Gupta said: “Our initiatives for the term would primarily focus towards developing norms and standards for accreditation of the health care organizations and adopt means of evaluation of such institutions, so as to improve the quality of healthcare in the community and provide opportunities for training and research in all aspects of the Healthcare Delivery System along with promoting awareness of healthcare among all sections of Indian people.”
Prof Gupta has been involved as expert member in various high-level Committees of the Government of India like permanent special invitee in the Project Management Committee under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana of the Central Government; member from 2005-2010 of technical Evaluation Committee under the PMSSY, GoI.
AHA with headquarters at Noida is a professional body of trained & qualified Hospital Administrators numbering 1500 drawn from all over India
Dr Gupta will continue his regular job at PGI.
