DODA, Nov 27: Minister for RDD, Law and Justice, Abdul Haq Khan, today said that Chenab Region will witness sea change on all fronts during the present dispensation as major projects are under pipeline.
He said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti his department has revolutionized rural development. The NREGA which was being used for political gains is today producing valuable public assets, he said.
He was addressing a well attended convention of party workers of Doda and Bhaderwah assembly segments here today. He was accompanied by party general secretary, Sartaj Madni, Member Legislative Council, Firdous Tak and Mehboob Iqbal.
Khan said that he had inherited liabilities worth crores of rupees under MGNREGA which were cleared during the initial months of the Government. Our party has emerged from rural area and it is our responsibility to serve the people of far flung areas of the State, he said.
Lambasting those who have been advocating war and violence, Sartaj Madni, said that there was no alternate to peace and dialogue – a vision envisaged by late Mufti Mohd Sayeed. “Some people are frustrated with the normalcy returning to Kashmir valley and as such they were resorting to rehetorics with an attempt to provoke the two neighbouring countries to war”, Madni said here.
Madni said that some elements have thrived on unrest and instability in J&K and they were adverse to the peace. “Gun and wars have never done anything good in any part of the world. Our party stands for dialogue and peace and will stand firm against such elements”, he said.
PDP will fight hate and war mongers, he said adding, “PDP was formulated not only to serve the people but also for a larger interest to resolve issue and issues of J&K. We stand by our policy of dialogue, lasting peace with dignity and friendly relations with neighbouring countries”, he said.
Late Mufti Muhammad sahib had never given importance to power and instead he on several occasions preferred interest of State and its people over the power, he said, adding that present Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is following the footsteps of her father to serve the masses.
MLC Firdous Tak and Mehboob Iqbal said that Chenab valley has stood behind the CM when attempts were being made to create unrest in the backdrop of Kashmir situation. They demanded early start of power projects, special employment package and focused attention on rural infrastructure in Chenab valley.
Distt President Shuhab ul Haq, Riyaz Ahmed Mintoo, Thakur Yudhvir, Sajid Hussain Mir, Mohd Iqbal Butt, Ghulam Mohammad Naik, Sajad Khukhar, Choudhary Hussain, Hasham ud din and Majeed Butt also spoke on the occasion.
