Soldier injured, 2-3 militants trapped

SRINAGAR, Sept 21: A soldier was injured in an encounter in Chrar-e-Sharief area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district this evening while 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped.
A joint team of police, army’s 53 RR and 181 battalion of CRPF cordoned off Nowhar village at Chrar-e-Sharief on the basis of specific lead about the presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of security forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter. In the initial exchange of firing, a solider was injured who was evacuated to army’s 92 base hospital Srinagar.
Security forces evacuated the civilians from the area and a cluster of 8 houses are under cordon and these militants are believed to be hiding there. The cordon has been tightened to prevent militants from fleeing the area.
Militants this evening attacked security forces in Arwani area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Militants fired UBGL followed by firing on 90 battalion of CRPF in Arwani area. However, there was no loss of life or injury in the incident.
More troops were rushed to the spot and search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.
A Road Operation Party of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was attacked by militants in Nowgam area of Srinagar this morning. However, no loss of life or injury was reported in the attack.
An official said that militants attacked the 110 battalion of CRPF. However, there was no loss of life or any injury to anyone in the attack.
The area was cordoned off by security forces to nab the attackers. However, militants managed to flee.
