SAMBA, July 25 : Continuing its crusade against Drugs, SOG Jammu and Samba police received huge quantity of banned drug during two nakaas at two different places in the district today.
As per reports SOG, Jammu achieved a major success by recovering huge quantity of Bottles of Codeine phosphate (Banned drug) at SIDCO Chowk Samba in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba this afternoon.
Reports revealed that a team of SOG Jammu led by SI, Arjun Mangotra laid a special naka at Samba SIDCO Chowk with the sleuths of Police Station Samba under its SHO Inspector, Shiv Dev Singh. A LP truck bearing registration No. JK05 E3912 was intercepted which was coming from Punjab and cops during search of the vehicle recovered huge quantity of banned drug from it which was otherwise carrying Kitchenware items.
The cops detained three narcotic smugglers who were smuggling the above contraband in the truck.
They have been identified as driver of the truck, Zubair Ahmad Bhat, S/O Abdul Hamid Bhat R/O Village – Namblan district, Baramulla , Owner of the truck Hashim Rasool, S/O Ghulam Rasool Gojree R/O Village Syed Karim, Gulshanabad Colony, district – Baramulla and Aqib Ahmed, S/O Ghulam Mohd, R/O Syed Karim, district – Baramulla
A case under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at PS Samba
The whole exercise was closely monitored by SSP SOG Jammu Sandeep Mehta- and was carried out under the supervision of SSP Samba Dr.Koushal Kumar .
Mr. Mehta has urged the civil society to strengthen the hands of Police to weed out this menace by providing the timely and actionable inputs about the movement and activities of these drug smugglers/peddlers in their respective areas to Police.
District Police Samba which ahs launched a vigorous drive against drug menace has arrested drug peddler in the jurisdiction of P/S Bari Brahmana and recovered 500 gm of Cannabis (Ganja).
A police party of P/S Bari Brahmana headed by Inspector, Darshan Singh, SHO under the supervision of Sunil Kesar, SDPO Bari Brahmana while performing patrolling duty in the area intercepted a pedestrian at Teli Basti near Balole Khad on suspicious grounds, who tried to run on seeing police party. But alert cops swiftly apprehended him and during his frisking 500 grams of Cannabis (Ganja) was recovered from his possession.
The accused who has been identified as Deepak Patel, S/o Kesari Patel, R/O Gram Kreaha, Shahdol, Madhya Pardesh A/P Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana arrested on the spot and contraband item was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 84/2019 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at P/S Bari Brahmana and investigation started.
