Mother, son succumb to burn injuries

JAMMU, July 25: A woman and her son severely injured in a fire mishap, succumbed to their burn injuries today in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
“Three persons had received serious burn injuries on July 20 when a fire broke out inside the kitchen of their house at Salwah area of Mendhar in Poonch district due to alleged leakage of domestic gas. On the same day, they were shifted to GMCH Jammu for specialized treatment,” a police official said.
He said after battling with the life for about five days, the injured woman namely Tazeem Akthar wife of Altaf Ahmad and her son Zaheer (13) succumbed to their injuries today in GMCH Jammu. While the woman died early in the morning, her son passed away late in the morning.
“Earlier, Rashid Ahmad son of Hakim Din, the third victim of the mishap, succumbed to his injuries in the GMCH on Tuesday,” the official said, adding after completion of all medico-legal formalities, the bodies of mother-son were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites.
