Snake found in school water tank

KATHUA, Nov 26: Ten students of Government Middle School (GMS) Baghechack, reportedly fell sick after drinking water from the tank installed in the school premises.
As per reports, students of Government Middle School (GMS) Baghechack namely Rakesh Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Jyoti Devi, Anu Radha, Kuldeep Kumar, Pankaj, Ajay, Parveen, Sapna Devi and Vikram fell ill after drinking water from the water tank installed in the school premises.
After drinking water, the students started vomiting and reported the matter to school Headmaster, who along with other faculty shifted the students to District Hospital Kathua.
At District Hospital Kathua, blood test and other necessary tests were conducted. Later they were discharged after treatment.
Soon after the incident, school authorities swung into action and ordered for cleaning of the tank, during which they found a dead snake in it.
When contacted,  Superintendent, District Hospital Kathua, Dr JP Singh confirmed the incident. He said that the students fell ill after drinking poisonous water. All of them were later discharged from the hospital, he added.
“I reported the whole matter to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and now he will write to Chief Education Officer for necessary measures to be taken in the schools”, Dr Singh informed.
When contacted, CEO Kathua said “I am not aware of the incident and if such incident had taken place, necessary action will be taken.”
