SMVDU organizes workshop on ‘Food Processing Industry in J&K’

KATRA, Apr 19: A  workshop on  ‘Competence Building in Food Processing Industry in J&K’ , sponsored by National Mission of Food Processing (NMFP) GoI, was held  in the School of Business, Faculty of Management, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra.
The workshop was inaugurated by Khurshid A Ganai, Finance Commissioner/ Secretary, Industries and Commerce J&K, in the presence of Vice Chancellor SMVDU Prof S K Jain, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Managing Director JK SIDCO and others.
The workshop was organized to provide a common platform where all food processing unit entrepreneurs of J&K, various stakeholders and experts from academics and industry came together to discuss the roadmap for growth and development of the FPI in the State of J&K.
Khurshid A Ganai called for a change in mindset to make efforts towards creating more entrepreneurship. He said that the competence building should be related to the export quality orientation.
Prof Sudhir K Jain said that employment can only be generated in J&K if we increase entrepreneurship and food processing is one of the potential areas for this.
Prof D Mukhopadhyay, Dean Faculty of Management, expressed that the food processing sector can take ahead the mission for ‘Make in India’.
Dr Ashutosh Vashishtha, Director School of Business, presented a welcome address.
On the concluding day, lecturers were delivered by Prof D Mukhopadhyay on Performance Matrix and Dr Jyoti Sharma on Performance Oriented Teams & Competence Building. It was followed by the session on SWOT Analysis for Competitiveness in Food Processing in J&K by Dr Saurabh. Amit Sharma, Special Secretary, was the chief guest in the valedictory session who mentioned that animal husbandry and food industry go hand in hand.
