KATRA, Oct 18: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, in association with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, organized a one-day Scientific and Technical Outreach Program at the SMVDU Campus.
The program was attended by more than 300 students from various schools and departments along with the faculty and staff members.
In his address, Prof Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor SMVDU, highlighted the University’s achievement and its endeavours to organise such programmes. He stressed that such a program is very important for the student to pursue a career in the field of Nuclear Science & Renewable Energy.
Registrar SMVDU, Nagendra Singh Jamwal said that this event will be helpful for the students in shaping their future. The Scientific and Technical Outreach Program, organized by the Scientists from BARC aims to create awareness about Nuclear Energy and its application, he added.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs, Scientists from BARC, including S Prabhakar, specializing in Food Irradiation Technology; Sameer Mandal, expert in Nuclear Reactor technology; R K B Yadav, specialist in Radiation Safety in Health & Environment; Heema Rao, Head PA&FL Section, R K Mishra, and Yatin Thakur who shared the dais.
The program was organized by the School of Energy Management, SMVDU Katra with Dr Vineet Veer Tyagi, Dean of Research and Development, and Dr Sanjeev Anand, Associate Dean of Research & Development, Dr Yatheshth Anand and Dr Jitendra Sharma as organizing team.
Dr Jitendra Sharma, in his welcome address, emphasizes the importance of such partnerships.
The response from the students who attended the workshop and participated in the quiz sessions was overwhelming. The winners were awarded certificates. Dr Yatheshth Anand presented vote of thanks.
