SMVDU organizes camp for flood relief

KATRA, Sept 7: In the wake of  devastating floods in many parts of India,  like Assam and Bihar, the students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University  organized a collection camp this week in association with Goonj under their ‘Rahat Floods’ campaign.
The camp was set up in university campus itself as well as in Delhi Public School Katra and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Hospital. It was a huge success with the support of faculty, staffs, students and people from the locality coming out to make generous donations. The collected commodities include clothes, utensils, footwear, bags etc as well as some monetary support was also obtained for logistics.
The commodities collected will be sent to the flood victims through Goonj – a leading NGO in the field of flood relief and rehabilitation. The camp was organized in the voluntary leadership of Roy Keshav Sharma, Shubham Upadhyay, Tushar, Sandeep Mishra, Pranav, Rashid Altaf, Simran Chaudhary, Manglam Bharat and Shreya Pandita. The camp was held under the guidance of Dr Varun K Tripathi and Dr Yugal Khajuria, Dean of Students.
