SMVDSB employee among 5 killed

KATHUA, June 13: An employee of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) and his wife were killed while two others injured when a car, they were travelling in, met with an accident in Pathankote Punjab last evening.
An SMVDSB employee identified as Kapil Dev along with his wife Sunita Devi, daughter Isha and a village Sarpanch Suresh Kumar who happens to be the brother in-law of Kapil were going to PGI Chandigarh when their car collided with another vehicle on By Pass near flyover in Pathankote Punjab last evening, a police spokesperson here today said.
He said Kapil was suffering from tuberculosis and was being shifted to the PGI Chandigarh from Jammu for treatment when the accident took place.
Police team immediately rushed to the spot on receiving information and shifted the injured to district Pathankote Hospital while Kapil a resident of Koota, Hiranagar tehsil in Kathua district and his wife were declared brought dead,  their daughter Isha and Suresh Kumar were hospitalised,” he added.
The duo is undergoing treatment in Pathankote Hospital. The car was driven by Suresh Kumar. The Pathankote Police has registered a case. The dead bodies of Kapil and his wife were brought to their native village Koota and their cremation was performed this evening.
In another accident at village Drumni in Billawar tehsil, one motorcyclist died on spot while a pillion rider was seriously injured at village Drumni when he hit a tractor trolley which was parked on the road late last night.
He has been identified as Kewal Singh an employees of Air Force. However his pillion rider was referred to GMC Jammu for treatment where he is battling for his life. The Billalwar Police has registered a case under relevant section.
Meanwhile, two pedestrians were killed and another was injured, when an ambassador car hit them near Gole Gujral area.
As per inputs, an ambassador car bearing registration number JKO2R-5110 hit three pedestrians in Gole Gujral.
The trio was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where Doctors declared Surinder Singh, resident of Gole Gujral as brought dead, while Inderjeet Singh of the same area failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to his injuries later.
The condition of the injured identified as Yashpal Singh was stated to be stable, when last reports came in.
The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to legal heirs for last rite after completion of legal formalities.
The driver of the vehicle identified as Rampal has been arrested, while police has registered a case and investigation started.
