REASI, April 25: The Student Welfare Office, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), in collaboration with the District Police Reasi, organized an awareness program on ‘Cyber Crime & Fraud’.
Prof R K Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU gave an insight into the need and importance of such awareness programs while stressing upon the role of various agencies and civil society at large in sensitizing the general masses about the various cyber crimes. At the outset, Registrar, SMVDU, Nagendra Singh Jamwal, spoke about the various cyber crimes.
More than 1000 participants from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing, Delhi Public School Katra and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University attended the program. SSP Katra Amit Bhasin shared his experience with the participants while SDPO Katra Kuljeet Singh spoke about the current scenario of crimes. The SDPO also presented a case study on the cyber fraud of Helicopter tickets in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
Inspector Manoj Gupta, Speaker of the Program addressed the gathering and created awareness among the participants regarding the different types of cyber crimes. Sub Inspector Ashutosh Bhalwal, Incharge police post, Kakrayal (Katra) provided necessary logistics and support for the program.
The program ended with formal vote of thanks presented by the coordinator, Dr Ankush Raina, Assistant Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering, SMVDU.
The event was the outcome of the coordinated effort of Dean Student welfare, SMVDU, Dr H G Mishra, and SSP Reasi Amit Gupta.
