SMVD Narayana conducts 1st Live Surgery Workshop on complex ENT surgeries

JAMMU, May 27: In continuation to its endeavour to ensure best medical practices in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH) today hosted the 1st Live Surgical Workshop on Nasal Endoscopic and Sinus Surgery organized by ENT Academic Society.
In his welcome address, Brigadier Dr Manmohan Harjai (Chief Administrating Officer, SMVDNSH) highlighted how SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital is devoted in bringing new technology and innovations in the medical field of the State and at the doorstep of people of Jammu.
The academic event covered both basics and advanced endoscopic sinus and skill base surgeries where total of 8 surgeries were performed including a case of brain tumour (Meningioma) which was operated using minimally invasive endoscopic endonasal approach.
All the surgeries were performed by senior consultants Dr Satish Jain (Consultant Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Jaipur), a world renowned ENT skull base surgeon and Dr Satish Mehta (Senior ENT Surgeon, Jammu) and the Anaesthesia team was led by Dr Vanila Chopra and Dr Amrita Kaul.
The workshop was well attended by around 150 delegates from various parts of country like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar and J&K. This is to be noted that all the surgeries in the workshop were performed free of cost as a part of Narayana Hospital’s outreach initiative.
Dr Rohan Gupta (Consultant NH Jammu) presented the vote of thanks and informed that all patients are doing good post-operative and that they will be discharged within 1-2 days. He further informed that all the infrastructure and equipment required for operating such cases is available at Narayana hospital and that Narayana hospital will make it a routine to hold such academic events.
The organizing committee included Dr Satish Mehta (organizing chairman), Dr Rohan Gupta (organizing Secretary), Dr IP Singh, Dr Anirudh Koul, Dr Nitika Mehta and Dr Nitika Gupta as executive members and Dr Sunil Kotwal as chief patron.
