Ref. news item police rescues 24 bovines-DE Apr 11. This kind of news has been appearing in the newspaper for the last many days. The smuggling of bovine animals by some selfish people for pecuniary benefits is highly objectionable and unwanted. For what purpose are the bovine animals smuggled especially to the valley is not hidden to anybody. Such smuggling of bovines gets a fillip on some holidays. The police are doing their best to thwart such movements.
It is not only the transporters who are to be blamed but the sellers of such animals as well. The Goa Raksha Samities should take serious notice of such people in order to stop such foul business. The Goa Shallas should be maintained on scientific lines and the people should contribute whole heartedly for maintenance of Goa Shallas. Meneka Gandhi, a great lover of animal kingdom deserves accolades who, through her writings, makes people aware that the animals of all kinds need our sympathetic approach, Lets also walk on her foot steps.
