Bhadarwah, Apr 15: Continuing its efforts to save the green gold from smugglers, who are taking advantage of lockdown due to COVID-19 threat, Forest Division (FD) Bhadarwah along with Forest Protection Force (FPF) foiled a bid of smuggling and arrested two persons in Kellar range.
According to reports, on specific information, FPF and FD Bhadarwah launched a search operation in forest area of Bhalla Compartment No 12/K in Kellar range.
While finding some activity going on, Forest and FPF officials reached the site and arrested two persons, while one managed to flee from the spot.
When contacted DFO Bhadarwah Chander Shekhar said, “Two persons were arrested, while one person managed to escape from the spot by taking advantage of darkness. The arrested persons were handed over to police for legal action”.
“It is a matter of great concern that when the entire world is fighting against Covid-19 and people are locked up in their houses, few unscrupulous elements are active in damaging the green gold and the worse part of it is that they are doing it clandestinely during night hours”, DFO informed.
