Smuggling bid of Govt ration foiled

RAMBAN, Feb 21: Ramsoo police today claimed to have foiled a smuggling bid of Government ration.
A police spokesman said that on Feb 20 at around 3:30 PM, information was received through reliable sources regarding smuggling of Government ration. He said acting on specific information, a special naka was established and the truck bearing registration number PB02N-9845 in which the Government ration (Rice) was being smuggled by some private persons in connivance with some Government officials of CAPD Department, was intercepted.
“The truck driver namely Rinku Singh son of Joginder Paul, resident of Patahpur (Pathankot) was arrested and approximately 22.5 tonnes of rice which was being illegally smuggled, was seized along with the truck,” the spokesman said, adding, the Government rice was being smuggled after changing the original labeling/packaging to regular plastic bags for illegal selling in Jammu and Kathua districts.
He said a case FIR Number 15/2021 under Sections 408/420/109 IPC was registered at police station Ramsoo and further investigation started.
The overall recovery and arrest was made by the police team led by Inspector Nazir Ahmed (SHO Ramsoo) and SDPO Banihal Nisar Ahmed Khoja under the overall supervision ofMohita Sharma, SP Ramban.
