Secy Health stresses on ethical, legal issues

JAMMU, Mar 11: Two days State Level Management Development Programme for doctors, Nurses, Matrons, MLHPs, Tutors of Nursing Colleges, ANMT & GNM Schools/Colleges was organised at SMGS Hospital, Jammu today by the Department of Hospital Administration, Government Medical College, Jammu in association with the Academy of Hospital Administration (AHA), India. Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary to the Government, Health & Medical Education Department inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhupinder Kumar dwelled on the importance of conducting such programmes which enhances the management capabilities of all healthcare professionals and stressed that since healthcare sector has become a very demanding, such programmes become very important to enhance the skill-set of healthcare professionals to offer the best possible patient care besides maintaining highest standards of professionalism.
He further stressed that such programmes are helpful in pooling the wisdom of the many branches of healthcare which serve as guiding beacons for adopting best practice in every field. He also cited the examples of states like Kerala which have successfully achieved self sufficiency in healthcare and no longer depend on procuring medicines and other health related equipments from outside sources.
He also stressed upon the ethical and legal issues involved in the profession and also the importance of public relations in Hospital and healthcare institutions. He further exhorted the healthcare professionals to focus on quality assurances and other challenges in management of clinical and emergency services.
