JAMMU, May 6: 78th Foundation Day of SMGS Hospital, Jammu was celebrated today in a colourful and impressive function held in the auditorium of the hospital.
The program started with the garland ceremony of the statue of Maharaja Gulab Singh. The authorities of Dharmarth Trust performed Pooja at the statue site. Minister for Health & Medical Education, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal was the chief guest on the occasion.
Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East and Chairman, Hospital Development Committee, SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina (Principal & Dean Medical College, Jammu) and Dr Sunil Kotwal (Professor & Head, Department of ENT) were other guests present in the function.
The main function was held in the auditorium of the hospital. At the outset, Dr Meenakshi Kotwal, Assistant Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, welcomed the chief guest Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Minister for Health & Medical Education Department.
The function began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony followed by Saraswati Vandna. The students of AMT School presented a coloruful patriotic song and dance. A dogri song by Suraj, a staff member, added glitter to the function.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Devinder Kumar threw light on the steps to be taken by him to ensure better patient care services in all the Government hospitals.
Dr Shashi Gupta (Professor & Head, Department of Gynae & Obstt), Dr Rekha Harish (Professor & Head, Department of Paediatrics), Dr Dev Raj Dogra (Professor & Head, Department of Dermatology), faculty members of Medical College/SMGS Hospital and many other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Dr Raj Kumar Sangra, Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital, Jammu presented the achievements of the hospital for the year 2017-18. He also spoke about the proposed projects to be undertaken in near future.
In the end, the chief guest presented awards to best employees/workers of 2017-18 from each category of staff.
