JAMMU, Jan 15: Junaid Azim Mattu, Mayor, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Mattu briefed Governor about the plans of the SMC for ensuring efficient delivery of public services under its purview and steps taken by the SMC for maintenance of cleanliness, sanitation and beautification of the area within its jurisdiction.
Governor congratulated Mattu for taking over as Mayor of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation and urged him to make Srinagar city clean and green besides ensuring round the clock provision of basic civic amenities to the people.
Dr. Mahendra Kumar Singh, Minister of State, Rural Development, Medical and Health, Uttar Pradesh also met Governor.
Dr. Singh and Governor had wide-ranging discussions on the initiatives required for development of rural areas and strengthening of health care services particularly in the remote areas of the country.
During the discussion, Governor highlighted the crucial importance of strengthening institutions of Panchayati Raj for ensuring development at the grass root level.
