Srinagar, Mar 25: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today ordered a complete ban on construction works within Municipal limits.
Srinagar Mayor, Junaid Azim Mattu, today tweeted about ban on constructions within Municipal limits. In his tweet, Mattu said, SMC is notifying a complete ban on all sorts of construction within SMC limits till further orders. He requested Jammu and Kashmir Police to help with halting construction at Mujigund.
In this regard an order (vide order No 533 dated 25.3.2020) was immediately issued by Joint Commissioner Planning SMC. “It has been observed that during lockdowns, people prefer illegal/ unauthorised constructions, encroachments, deviations by taking advantage of the situation”, it said.
“Therefore, in view of current COVID-19 crisis where under national lockdown period has been announced, all ongoing construction activities (including sanctioned permissions) within Srinagar Municipal Corporation limits are banned with immediate effect from today”, reads the order.
The order says that any violation in this regard shall be strictly dealt within the ambit of law.
