UDHAMPUR, Oct 6: Science Club of GCW organized one day inter-college symposium on the topic “Wild Life Protection” in collaboration with J&K State Science, Technology and Innovation Council, District Office Udhampur.
The symposium was coordinated by Dr Sanjay Kharoo, District Coordinator, Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Udhampur.
On the occasion, Prof KS Koushal, Principal of the College was chief guest.
Dr Bhavnaish Chand, Convener of the symposium presented the keynote address. He said corrective and strict measures are needed to be taken by the concerned agencies to protect the wildlife before it is too late, he stated.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof KS Koushal said that it is our duty to protect the natural splendor of ecosystem and to evolve a system of co-existence with every living creature on the earth, he added.
Prof Romesh Atri from Botany Department, GDC Udhampur, Prof Brinder Kumar HOD Zoology, GCW Udhampur and Prof BP Singh from Botany Department GCW Udhampur adjudged the participants.
About 20 students drawn from GGM Science College Jammu, GDC Udhampur, GCW Udhampur and Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur participated in the symposium. The first prize was bagged by Smariti Sharma from GCW Udhampur, second prize was clinched by Satyam Sharia from GGM Science College Jammu while third prize was won by Kashish Mahajan from GDC Udhampur. Consolation prizes were secured by Varun Sharma from GGM Science College Jammu, Sonam Sharma from GDC Udhampur and Parul Goswami from GCW Udhampur.
Prizes and certificates were distributed among winners/participants by the Principal of the College and the Convener of the symposium.
Among others present were Dr Nalini Pathania, HoD English, Prof Kuldeep Kumar, Dr Ashok Kumar, Prof Ravinder Kour and Prof Neetu Raina.
In the end, Dr Arun Kumar Sharma delivered vote of thanks.
