Small units facing survival crisis: ASTI

JAMMU, Oct 27: The Association of Small & Tiny Industries (ASTI) , Jammu province has alleged that many small units are struggling for the survival due to non-implementation of Industrial Policy in the State.
In a meeting of the Association held here today under the chairmanship of Harbinder Singh, the members criticized the Government for not addressing the genuine issues of the unit holders and not implementing the Industrial Policy. Mr Singh while quoting an example said that Medical Corporation was created by the Government and the MD of the of JKMSCL has imposed certain conditions in the tender documents, with the intentions to keep the local small units away from the participation in it. Most of the units from outside the State have been accorded the opportunity to make supplies and local unit holders have been left to suffer. Various hospital supply items are being procured from outside for their vested interests.
The members pointed out that if the Govt has been supporting to set up the units then proper Industrial Policy should be implemented and local units should also be provided opportunity to participate in the tenders. They said many unit are facing crisis survival crisis and Govt should intervene into the matter.
