Slathia seeks free ration for fire affected farmers

VIJAYPUR, Apr 30: Former minister and State secretary National Conference, Surjeet Singh Slathia today visited Nanga village in Ramgarh area of Vijaypur Assembly Constituency to take stock of the damages caused to crops, spread on a land holding of 216 kanals due to fire.
The crops were burnt thus taking toll of the hard toil of farmers. Slathia met the suffering farmers and expressed solidarity with them, assuring that the matter will be taken up with all the concerned for assessment of losses and payment of interim relief.
The farmers gave an account of the damages caused to the crops, saying this was their only source of sustenance. They also alleged that no assistance/ relief has been provided to them by the Government so far.
The former minister urged the District Administration, especially the revenue authorities, to depute an empowered team for assessing the damages caused to the crops for payment of compensation. Till the time of the completion of survey, the affected farmers should be provided interim relief as also three months free rations, he pleaded.
Slathia made a strong plea to the Governor’s administration for ensuring immediate relief to the suffering farming community of the area.
