SKUAST-TAJ demands sanctioning of new faculties

Excelsior Correspondent
Jammu, Aug 9: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology – Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) has demanded immediate sanction of much required Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Horticulture and Faculty of Dairy Technology as the proposal has been made hostage to the process of seeking repeated queries for the last 11 years by the State Government.
While chairing a meeting of the TAJ, its president Dr Vikas Sharma said that the despite satisfactory replies of university on all queries with regard to required staff strength and budget estimates, there was zero progress on the matter as the State Government has not sanctioned these faculties till date.
“The persons at the helm of affairs in the Government administration are making mockery of this only farm and professional University of the Jammu Division as SKUAST Kashmir has added five more faculties to its strength viz., Faculty of Horticulture, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Dairy Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Faculty of Forestry in the last eleven years whereas queries and questions to SKUAST-Jammu seem to be endless. If this is not glaring example of discrimination with Jammu what other name can we give to it.”, he said.
Dr Vivek M Arya, general secretary of the association, said that piecemeal handling of the request of the SKUAST Jammu has done much harm to the student community of this region. “Very soon the association will take up the matter with CM for immediate redressal of the long pending proposal,” he informed.
