JAMMU, Sept 4: In a talk series, organized by Faculty of Agriculture, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu), Professor H B Singh from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi today delivered a brainstorming lecture on the topic “Patent Practice”.
The lecture was attended by more than 100 delegates including faculty members and PG students of SKUAST Jammu.
Dr J P Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-Jammu, presided over the function where senior professors of faculty Dr SA Mallick, Dr Rizvi Dr AK Mondal, Dr DP Abrol, Dr Bikram Singh and Dr SK Gupta were also present
Dr Singh informed that for igniting the minds of young scientists to gain the knowledge of patenting, newly developed Universities should organize lectures on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) by particular experts and incentives should be provided to the workers /scientists who file patent. He stressed for IPR cell in Agricultural University like SKUAST-Jammu for patenting varieties, value addition products of home science, tools of engineering for hill agriculture etc.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by President Teaching Association Dr Vikas Sharma and Dr Sumita Kumari.
Meanwhile, first General Body Meeting of SKUAST-Jammu Teaching Association was held at Conference Hall, Main Campus Chatha under the president ship of Dr Vikas Sharma. The meeting was attended by more than 150 Scientists from faculty, research stations and KVKs of SKUAST-Jammu.
In the GBM, the executive committee of SKUAST-TAJ was expanded with Professor R K Samotra of Vegetable Science and Assoc Professor Susheel Sharma of Agricultural Engineering inducted as advisors of association for full term of three years. Dr Lalit Upadhyay, Dr AP Singh and Dr Puneet Choudhary were inducted in the association as executives from different KVKs.
Listing the achievements of SKUAST-TAJ, Dr Vikas Sharma particularly mentioned that signing of MoU wih CSIR- IIIM, Jammu for the exchange of faculty regarding talks, joint projects, conferences and visit of students between the two Institutions.
