JAMMU, Sept 21: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu celebrated its 14th Foundation Day in its R.S. Pura campus today Prof. Dilip K. Arora Vice Chancellor of the University was chief guest on this occasion. Prof. Arora in his address said that University has made unprecedented progress during the last one decade. He exhorted upon the faculty, students and the scholars to strive hard to make SKUAST-Jammu a leading educational institution.
He further emphasized the need to create a congenial atmosphere in the University to encourage developmental activities, academic excellence and innovations so that outcome of research can be transferred from laboratory to land for the benefit of the farming community of the province.
Earlier, Dr. K.S. Risam, Director Extension gave an overview of the extension activities of the University. He said that the University is doing its all out efforts to reach the un-reached farmers so that the benefits of the latest technology can be transferred to the grass roots. Dr. B.B.Gupta, Registrar, highlighted the historical perspective of the University. He informed about the various administrative reforms undertaken for good governance in the University.
Dr. A.S. Bali , Director Research gave brief account of the various research achievements of the university. Dr. R.M. Bhagat, Director Education gave a brief description on the educational system adopted in University. A blood donation camp was also organized by the university in collaboration with Blood Transfusion Department of Government Medical College in which students, staff and faculty members donated 37 units of blood.
