JAMMU, May 28: Twentieth Academic Council meeting of SKUAST-Jammu was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor, Prof R K Gupta, through online and offline mode.
The agenda of the meeting included admission to the under graduate programme in Agriculture, Veterinary and Biotechnology, besides 33 Post Graduate programmes in different subjects. Threadbare deliberations were held with focus on online teaching, assessment/ evaluation, examination and other related issues in the light of ICAR/UGC guidelines.
The major resolutions and decisions taken in the Academic Council meeting, included ratification of online teaching (Curricula delivery) started in the month of March 2020. The modalities for assessment of the students in different programmes and conduct of examination were also chalked out. Framing of guidelines for student ready and internship programme with provision of moderation in external examinations were also approved.
In his remarks, the vice-Chancellor Prof R K Gupta emphasised the need to accelerate progress in academics, research and extension activities in order to address new challenges in academics in light of COVID 19 pandemic through the team efforts. He stressed that the recommendation be implemented effectively without further delay in the interest of academics.
This meeting was attended by Academic Council members through online and offline mode. The agenda was presented by Rajesh Talwar, Registrar, and Member Secretary of the Academic Council. Dr Sarfraz Ahmed Wani, Professor LPT, SKUAST-Kashmir, was the expert member and Dr Ashwani Sharma, Dean, CSK HPKV Palampur was the special invitee. Dr S K Gupta, Director Education; Dr Deepak Kher, Director Planning & Monitoring; Dr S K Gupta, Director Extension; Dr D P Abrol, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture; Dr M S Bhadwal, Dean, F V Sc & A H; Dr S E H Rizvi, Dean, F B Sc.; Heads of the Divisions of Faculties of Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences and Basic Science also attended the meeting. At the end Directed Education proposed the vote of thanks.
