SKUAST-J to host 4th J&K Agri Science Congress from Oct 28

JAMMU, Oct 20: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) in collaboration with State Council for Science & Technology and Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, is organizing a three-day J&K Agricultural Science Congress from October 28 to 30 at its main campus Chatha.
This was disclosed by Dr JP Sharma, Director Research, SKUAST-J, while addressing a press conference here today.
Dr VK Razdan, Organizing Secretary, 4th J&K Agricultural Science Congress, told the media persons that more than 400 participants are expected to participate in the event in which lead lectures will be delivered by eminent scientists of the country in their respective fields of specialization.
He further informed that attaining livelihood security, sustainable food production and environmental protection has always been a challenging task and the main focus of the JK Science Congress shall be the technological innovations, opportunities and challenges for sustainable agriculture in order to attain food and livelihood security.
Dr VK Wali, Chairman, Publicity Committee, informed that the Congress will cover all the topics related to agriculture and allied sectors. The three-day deliberations shall include socio-economic dynamics of farming and rural livelihood, management of water and land resources, alternate farming system or farm diversification, technological innovations on crop and livestock management, climate resilience in agriculture, managing biotic and abiotic stresses and challenges as well as strategies in animal health and productivity.
He said that all the details of the Congress are available on University website www.skuast.org.
Other scientists present were Dr Bikram Singh, Dr Vivek M Arya, Dr PK Rai and president, Teaching Association, Dr Vikas Sharma.
