JAMMU, Oct 20: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association (JKBWA) today stressed and urged upon the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed and SC/ST Ministers to ensure social upliftment and advancement of weaker sections in the State at all levels including promotions.
In its general body meeting held at Bhadrore, the association said that the SC/ST people of the State have not fully developed in all respects and as such, the recent judgement of the State High Court that abolished benefits of reservation in promotions, would deprive these people to rise up, come at par with the evolved products and keep their place in the society.
The association prepared a memorandum of basic and genuine demands of Batwal community and sent it to Chief Minister’s Secretariat at Srinagar. The Association also forwarded its copies to the J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare & Development of Scheduled Castes and the Advisor to Chief Minister Professor, Amitabh Mattoo, with the request to kindly pursue the matter.
Meanwhile, the association also issued identity cards to all its members and reconstituted Guru Gyagi Foundation with Baldev Chand Sandhu as president, Darshan Lal Kaith as senior vice-president, Ram Lal Sargotra as vice-president, Bua Ditta Kaith as vice-president, Om Parkash Sargotra as special secretary and Narayan Dass Bassa as treasurer.
Kamal Chand Motan, Ram Lal Sargotra, Om Parkash Tugga, Prem Singh Sargotra, Raj Kapoor Sargotra, Krishan Lal Kashyap, Rashpal Chand Bassa, Som NathTugga, Mela Ram Tugga, Rattan Lal Motan, Waryam Chand Motan, Jagbandhan Motan, Mahesh Bhardwaj, Harbans Motan, Bishan Dass Tugga, Lal Chand Motan, Madan Lal Kaith and Harish Bhardwaj were inducted into the Foundation as executive members.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting include Ex-MLA, Sat Paul Lakhotra, Romesh Sargotra, RL Kaith, Duni Singh Motan and many others.
