JAMMU, Apr 28: SKUAST-J organized one-day training programme for farmers and farm women in collaboration with Indian Potash Limited. Farmers were trained on targeted yield concept, judicious fertilizer management and crop production under Climate Change scenario.
Dr Sanjay Koushal team member, NICRA welcomed the dignitaries and farmers and briefed them about the objectives of the programme. Dr Vivak Manohar Arya, the Principal Investigator of the project AICRPAM-NICRA, emphasized on the role of potash in maintaining soil fertility and soil health.
Dr Vivak stressed on the judicious use of fertilizers to farmers on the basis of targeted yield concept. Dr Arya also stressed upon the farmers of the area to have direct linkage with the KVKs so that they can take the benefit of the new scientific knowledge of agriculture.
Dr A P Singh SMS, KVK Kathua advised the farmers to adopt the recommended packages and practices of the University for mitigating the effect of future climatic changes.
Various other dignitries namely S D Savtantra (IFS) Retd Principal Chief Conservator advised the farmers to take the benefit of the various State and Centrally sponsored schemes. Representatives from the Indian Potash Limited assured the farmers of the area that quality fertilizers from IPL will be available to them as per the need.
Rajeev Sharma delivered the vote of thanks and advised the farmers to take advantage of such programs.
