SKPA Udhampur conducts 2nd round of Range level debate competition

UDHAMPUR, Jan 15: Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur conducted 2nd round of Range level debate competition on the topic “State Violations of Human Rights Escalates Violence rather than Controls It”, here today.
Total 16 contestants drawn from SKPA Udhampur, STC Talwara, PTS Kathua, PTTI Vijaypur, PTS Manigam and STC Sheeri participated in the Debate. The debate competition was judged by four member jury under the chairmanship of Kamal Sharma, CPO, SKPAU and the event was presided over by Mohan Lal, SSP – Asstt Director (Outdoor) SKPAU.
The objective of organizing the debate competition was to make the Police officers/officials/trainees and staff aware of human rights issues and the effects of violation thereof.
The participants spoke their mind and touched various issues concerning the topic. There were many suggestions mooted for the respect of Human Rights and those who spoke in favour of the motion warned of the dangers of violating the Human Rights as State cannot be the violator of it when pious duty of ensuring the respect and protection of the Human Rights has been bestowed upon State by the Constitution.
PSI (T) Abhinandan Singh from PTTI Vijaypur was adjudged the best speaker and he spoke for the motion whereas PSI Anchal Singh of SKPAU was adjudged 2nd best speaker while 3rd place was shared by PSI Vikram Quanth and PSI Rakshit Sharma of SKPAU as both had a tie and were jointly adjudged 3rd.
The debate competition was attended by the Dy SPs, Sr POs, staff and the trainees. The winners of this Range level competition shall now compete at the Union Territory of JK level debate competition to be held at Jammu.
