SKIMS celebrates annual day

SRINAGAR, Dec 5: In connection with the birth anniversary of late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) today celebrated its annual day.
Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University, Dr Khurshid Iqbal was the chief guest while Director, SKIMS, Dr Showkat Ali Zargar attended the function as guest of honour.
Among others faculty members of the Institute besides medical and paramedical staff were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khurshid Iqbal said SKIMS was a dream of late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and endeavoured to make it a centre of healthcare excellence in the Valley.
Director SKIMS said that SKIMS has a pivotal role in health sector of the Valley and caters to a huge population in need of super speciality healthcare. He also highlighted the services rendered by the doctors and paramedics of the institute during the floods.
He said that the institute has come a long way since its inception, upgrading its facilities in modern healthcare; however there is need to continuously upgrade the institute so as to provide top class medical treatment within the State in various specialities.
Prof Gul Javid, Prof. Sharik Rashid Masoodi also spoke on the occasion.
