KATHUA, July 27: Seema Jan Kalyan Samiti (SJKS) J&K has extend its compliments to the Centre Government and Dr. Jitendra Singh, MoS, PMO with whose efforts reservation to the villages on International Border (IB) has been considered by the Union Government.
Talking to reporters here, today SJKS president, Hardev Singh Soodan, said people of 508 villages on the IB in district Jammu, Samba and Kathua will be benefitted by this reservation. All people of these villages are grateful to the Government, he added.
Master Dev Raj, vice president of the organisation, Sanjay Sharma its organising secretary was also present amongst others on this occasion.
Soodan said Seema Jan Kalyan Samiti had initially projected the issue of reservation to the Villages on IB during 2017 on the pattern of reservation given to the villages on LOC/LAC since 2004. A memorandum to this effect projecting the demand for reservation on IB at par with LOC was given to Dr. Jitendra Singh, during the meeting organized by Seema Jan Kalyan Samiti at Rajpura (Samba) on the occasion of Vilay Divas on October 26, 2017, while Dr. Jitendra Singh was the chief guest and Brig. (retd) Suchet Singh, Prant Sang Chaalak RSS J&K was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Reservation on LOC/LAC was introduced by NC, Congress Government during 2004 ignoring the villages on IB which lies along Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts. It was a great discrimination with the people living on the IB which are Hindu Majority districts in J&K.
The Samiti on analysing the list of 508 villages identified for reservation on IB and after having interactions with the village Panches, Sarpanches and BDC Chairmen, has ascertained that certain villages which lie within six kms from the border in Kathua, Samba, Ram Garh, RS Pura, Suchetgarh, Mandal and Khaur have not been included in the list of villages considered for reservation on IB. Few villages which are parallel and with equal distance from border in comparison to the villages which were included in the list have been neglected or ignored.
In certain areas the people have protested and shown resentment for neglecting their villages and demanded to consider their villages also for reservation on IB. Hence, Samiti requests the Lt Governor that resurvey of border villages may kindly be carried out and where discrepancies are found, necessary amendment may kindly be made in the list of villages entitled to reservation on IB.
