Six kidnapped minor girls recovered

Srinagar, July 29: Police in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have recovered six minor girls who were kidnapped by some youth from different parts of the district.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Pulwama, Tejinder Singh, said that the kidnappings had occurred from July 19 and 29. “Six cases of kidnappings of minor girls came to our knowledge and we constituted a special team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarter) and he alerted concerned Station House Officers (SHOs). Within the span of less than a week, we were able to recover these girls and all the accused have been arrested,” the SP said.
Singh said that there is no “known pattern” of the kidnappings and the kidnappers had taken advantage of the innocence of these girls. He said that the girls have been handed over to their legal heirs.
In Anantnag district, police have arrested a kidnapper of a child from Bijbehara Town. A police spokesman said that the cops recovered the kidnapped child from the kidnapper namely Nazir Ahmad Walo within three hours of kidnapping.
“The accused has been taken into custody and a case under FIR number 48/2015 under Section 363 RPC has been registered against him. Further investigation in this regard is going on,” the spokesman added.
