Srinagar, May 9: A Special Investigation Team was formed today to investigate the death of a woman from Kreeri area in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, who was allegedly killed in a domestic violence incident.
According to the police, the SIT was formed because of the sensitivity of the case and the need for a quick investigation. “In view of the sensitivity of case, FIR 42/2022 under sections 307, 323, and 498A IPC of Police Station Kreeri, a Special Investigation Team is constituted for speedy/quality investigation of the case,” reads an order by SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat.
The order also directs the SIT to conduct a professional investigation of the case and ensure that no lacuna remains in the investigation. “As soon as possible, the team will complete its investigation of the case on its merits,” it states.
The SDPO Kreeri, SHO of Police Station Kreeri, and other officers make up the SIT, which is led by Additional Superintendent Baramulla. SIT has also been ordered to share information with the SSP’s office on a weekly basis.
Earlier, the woman who was allegedly beaten by her in-laws a few days back succumbed to her injuries at a hospital on Sunday evening. The 28-year-old woman had suffered head injuries after being allegedly beaten up by her in-laws on Eid in Kreeri village.
