Under SIP scheme, Katra selected among top 10 for sanitation

JAMMU: Katra town, the base camp of world famous Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine has been selected as one among the ten iconic places under Swachh Iconic Places (SIP) scheme of Rural Development and Drinking Water and Sanitation.      

The second review meeting of the Swachh Iconic Places Scheme of Government of India was today held at Kakryal in Katra which was attended by the Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra; Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Panchayati Raj, Rural Development and Drinking Water and Sanitation; Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State, PMO and others.      

”Under the Swachh Iconic Places Scheme, in the first phase Katra Vaishno Devi has been selected as one among the 10 Iconic Places identified in the country for its planned infrastructure development and sanitation,” said an official. (AGENCIES)
