JAMMU, Sept 30: Prominent social worker and SSP (rtd) Bhupinder Singh today visited Nai-basti, Bhidipur, Hansu-chak, Khedepar, Agra- chak, Badyal Brahamana and Fatehpur Brahamana villages of Suchetgarh and interacted with people on the issue of feed and fodder for livestock development in the flood hit areas of Jammu region.
While interacting with the people, the former SSP observed resentment among the affected people due to loss to the paddy crops during the floods. The locals said that State Government has formulated Rs 300 crore plan for making feed and fodder available for the livestock in the flood hit areas of Kashmir valley. They demanded similar package for the Jammu region.
Former SSP, accordingly, appealed to the State Government to formulate a similar plan for the flood affected people of Jammu region. He asked the Government to immediately provide funds for setting up fodder banks in the rural areas to store fodder for future eventualities. “The poor people have been left at the mercy of Almighty with no arrangement of feed and fodder,” he said, adding “the Government should immediately compensate the farmers as the flood has caused soil erosion on thousands of acres of land and damaged their crops”.
He urged State Government to expedite the relief and rehabilitation work to mitigate the suffering of the affected people.
