NEW DELHI, May 7: Silver prices edged higher by 0.54 per cent to Rs 42,800 per kg in futures trade today after speculators enlarged their positions largely driven by a firming trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July up by Rs 229, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 42,800 per kg in business turnover of 419 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in September contracts traded higher by Rs 235, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 43,607 per kg in 13 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade to a firming trend in the precious metals overseas as tensions in Ukraine raised demand for safe haven.
Meanwhile, silver traded 0.30 per cent higher at USD 19.64 an ounce in Singapore. (PTI)
