JAMMU, Oct 18: Birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj is being celebrated on November 4, 2017 at Gurdwara Chand Nagar, in Gumat area of Jammu city.
In this connection, a grand religious procession (Nagar Kirtan) will be taken out from Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar on November Ist (Wednesday) at 10 am and will culminate at Gurdwara Nanak Nagar at 5 pm. The Nagar Kirtan which shall start from Chand Nagar ( Below Gumat), after passing through Swami Vivekanand Chowk, Gumat Crossing, Dogra Chowk, Tawi bridge, Bikram Chowk Asia Crossing, Green Belt Gandhi Nagar, District Hospital Gandhi Nagar Road, Gole Market, Shiva Chowk, Khalsa Chowk shall culminate at Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
In order to review the arrangements for the Nagar Kirtan and celebrations on November 4, a meeting of the DGPC members was held here with the local Gurdawara Committees and prominent Sikh leaders. The DGPC members sought cooperation from all the sections of society and members of the committees for the grand success of the religious programme.
President State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board T S Wazir appealed to the Sikh community members to participate in this grand programme with enthusiasm and religious fervour. He also appealed the people of all the communities to maintain communal harmony.
President, District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu, requested the Educational Institutions to observe holiday on the said dates so that students, parents and school transport vehicles do not face any problem due to traffic congestion.
Avtar Singh Khalsa, general secretary DGPC also spoke on the occasion. He appealed the public transport authorities to extend their cooperation for the smooth conduct of this programme. He also sought cooperation of trade bodies and businessmen in general for this cause.
