Sikh Societies Amalgamate holds meet

JAMMU, Sept 25: J&K Sikh Societies Amalgamate held a meeting under the chairmanship of its Chief Patron Gurdeep Singh Sasan and discussed various socio-economic and political problems being faced by Sikh and PoK refugees.
While speaking, Sasan said that they submitted memorandum regarding pathetic and miserable condition of refugees to the Central Government, but till date nothing has been done.
During the meeting, the participants condemned the Anti Islam Video.
They urged Prime Minister to immediately announce an economical package for the permanent settlement of PoK refugees and also announce special employment package in Central as well as State Government Services.
They also demanded reservation of at least 8 seats in the Legislative Assembly, constitution of Welfare and Development Board for PoK refugees, formation of Minority Commission, sufficient representation to Sikhs in PSC, JKSSB, Judiciary and other statutory bodies and provision of formation of a financial corporation for minorities.
Among others present were Captain PP Singh, Hardev Singh, Retd Prof Surjeet Kour, Baldev Singh, heads of different Sikh societies, etc.
