JAMMU, July 28: Condemning the Saharanpur episode in Uttar Pradesh (UP), Sikh organizations today held a strong protest demonstration here at Nanak Nagar against the UP administration for its complete failure in protecting the life and property of Sikhs in Uttar Pradesh.
Representatives of Various Sikh organizations including J&K Sikh Council, Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Shiromani Akali Dal (Mann), All India Sikh Student Federation and Sikh Intelicuitial Circle today assembled at Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Nagar and expressed resentment over the Saharanpur episode. They demanded that stern action be taken against the miscreants and loss of lives and property of the innocent Sikhs be compensated appropriately.
They also condemned the incident of pelting stones on a Gurdwara in Anantnag by some criminal elements, saying the incident happened at that time when the holy Sikh Flag (Nishan Sahib) was being replaced as per the routine practice from which it is clear that the miscreants wanted to spoil the scenario of the spot. They urged the Government to tackle such elements with hard hands.
Alleging that the Gurudwara building at Reasi which was set ablaze during 1984 rights by some anti-Sikh elements has been captured by the vested interests, they demanded the Government to vacate the building from the illegal occupants with immediate effect.
The Sikh leaders said, “We strongly oppose any act of the Government for dividing J&K on the name of homeland for Kashmiri Pandits, which is a matter of grave concern that how a gimmick is being played to change the demography of J&K, which is not acceptable to us.”
They also condemned the action of Israel Government for genocide of Gaza people, terming it totally inhuman.
