JAMMU, Nov 24: Sikh leaders said that a writ petition, demanding Rs 25 lakh compensation to the family, whose son was killed in firing at Satwari vis-à-vis investigation into the case by CBI, has been filed in High Court. They asserted that they will purse this writ petition to logical conclusion.
Addressing a joint press conference, Sudershan Singh Wazir, former president, J&K State Sikh Gurudwara Parbandhak Board and recently elected five members of DGPC Jammu namely Avtar Singh Khalsa, Raja Singh, Ramneek Singh, Fateh Singh and Dharbinder Singh, who are the petitioners in this writ petition said that no action has been taken by the SIT, which was constituted to investigate the firing incident at Satwari, in which a Sikh youth died.
They added that firing orders were issued by SSP Jammu on the instructions of higher-ups and there was no magisterial order to open fire on the peacefully protesting Sikh youths.
Sudershan Singh Wazir alongwith other community representatives criticized the role of all those Sikh leaders who made tall claims of entering into negotiations with the Government that SSP Jammu has been transferred and all other issues of the community and youth have been resolved.
He added that a campaign was launched by these traitors of the Panth as SSP returned and joined his place of posting. As SSP Jammu rejoined his post, no voice was raised by these traitors, he asserted.
The whole Sikh Community’s non violent, ethical and religious attitudes were put to challenge by the Government by allowing SSP to rejoin his duty, manipulating the FIR No 112/15 and not making any further enquiry in the case.
“All the issues related to the case have been raised in the petition and compensation of Rs 25 lakh has been demanded to be paid to the deceased’s family vis-à-vis investigation into the case through CBI”, he added and called upon the community members to remain united in order to thwart any attempt by traitors to divide the community by misleading the innocent Sikh sentiments.
They warned the Government to desist from using the policy of divide and rule and said that we will not allow the community interests to be compromised and pursue the petition to its logical conclusion.
